How to Get Rid of a Beer Belly

For some, it is simply one too many beers that causes that beer gut but for others a beer belly doesn’t even happen due to an over abundance of alcohol; it is simply from genetics. Whichever the reason, it won’t be easy to get that fit body back but it is entirely possible with a lot of willpower and determination. Begin using the following tips on how to get rid of a beer belly:

Visit Your Doctor

First and foremost, before beginning any diet or exercise regimen, you should visit your doctor for a complete physical to ensure that you are in good overall health. You want to be sure that there are no underlying medical problems that will prevent you from reaching your goal.

Eliminate the Alcohol

The next step is to say goodbye to beer and other alcoholic beverages. These are full of calories and sodium which lead to excessive belly flab so you want to eliminate them from your cupboards completely.

Eat Healthy

Eating healthy is something that we all should do but if you are trying to eliminate that spare tire around the middle, it is crucial that you lower your fat intake by making healthier food choices. Instead of grabbing that piece of cake after dinner, try switching to fruits or low fat yogurt instead. There are many low calorie options that will keep you feeling full throughout the day so that you don’t feel the urge to snack. As with any diet, doctors recommend drinking 8-10 glasses of water. Not only will this help keep you hydrated, it will also help give you that full feeling.

Cardiovascular Exercise

Now that you are on the right track to getting rid of a beer belly, it is time to add a cardiovascular workout to your daily routine. A cardiovascular exercise can be anything that gets your heart rate up such as jogging, bicycling, swimming, or even just a brisk walk. Be sure to start off slowly and work your way up as you become more fit.

Abdominal Exercise

In addition to the cardiovascular exercise routine, it is best to focus on those abdominal muscles. Since this is the area we are trying to trim down, exercises such as sit-ups and crunches are best. Be sure to do these slowly and correctly so as not to injure your back or strain your abdominal muscles and don’t try to do too many at once. Start off with a small number like 10-20 a day and work up to a more vigorous workout.

By following all these great tips, you will begin to see your body transform into a more fit and fabulous you.
