How to Get Rid of a Pressure Headache
Today’s modern life is a stressful life. One unfortunate side effect of all that stress is a pressure headache. Don’t have time to take a 10 day cruise to the Bahamas? Then you probably need a solution that is fast and effective. Here are a few tips you can try to get rid of a pressure headache:
Tension, or pressure, headaches generally occur because of tension being placed on the muscle around the neck – these can also be considered migraines. If you wake up in the morning with this type of headache then try taking a cold shower. This will generally do the trick. If this doesn’t work then just have a seat, and relax. Focus on your breathing. Try to escape to a cool, dark room. Turn off the TV, the radio, and your phone. Do whatever you can to get away from the noise in your home, even your kids.

Acupressure is also a great alternative to get rid of pressure headaches. To do this simply rub your temples with your thumbs or index fingers. Do this in a circular fashion for about 30 seconds. As you do this, roll your head. Remember to breathe and try to relax. This is the key to getting rid of that nasty headache. You may want to try to add a little ginger into your diet as well. Ginger is a natural way to relieve pain, and stop your headaches before they even start. It’s also a great idea to try limiting, or even eliminating, your caffeine intake. Caffeine withdrawal has also been known to cause headaches.
Another great acupressure point to try is on your hand. Make a V shape with your thumb and index finger on your left hand. Take your right hand and apply pressure to the center of that V, or just below the index finger’s first knuckle. Hold the pressure there for about 20 seconds. If this gives you some relief, wonderful. If not, then repeat the process. Once again, and this point is being brought up again because it is so crucial, don’t forget to relax and breathe.
If you don’t mind taking over the counter medications to relieve pain, then go right ahead. There are several to choose from. Remember to follow dosing instructions. Go to your doctor if your headaches persist for longer than a week. You may have a more serious problem that will require medical attention, and you should never take your health for granted.
