How to Get Rid of Anxiety
Anxiety is prevalent these days and often it is hard to escape. Anxiety is a kind of fear that affects every aspect of our life—how we behave, how we feel and our anticipations. Anxiety also has physical symptoms that are real and sometimes debilitating. When we are fearful we usually know what we’re frightened of but when we’re anxious we usually don’t know why and not knowing why we’re fearful, enhances the fear even more. …
Our lives are often filled with anxiety but there are methods and ways in which we can lower or eliminate the anxiety in our lives.
Symptoms of anxiety are various but the most common symptoms of anxiety are: feeling tense and irritable, thinking that bad things will soon happen, restlessness, unable to concentrate, feeling apprehensive and continually looking for indications that danger may be approaching.
In addition to mental symptoms of anxiety there are also physical symptoms such as a pounding heart, headaches, shortness of breath, fatigue, insomnia, muscle tension and an upset stomach or light headedness.
There are ways and methods of dealing with anxiety. Here are a few:
1. Medications such as Zoloft can be quite helpful when you’re having problems with anxiety. This type of medication does not end the anxiety but it does help to take away some of the symptoms. By taking away some of the symptoms, you are better able to find ways to prevent the anxiety from coming back.
2. Psychological therapy is another way to treat anxiety. By undergoing therapy for anxiety, you are able to learn, recognize and understand better why the anxiety begins and learn new behavior on how they can control the anxiety attacks.
3. Alternative therapy—therapies that come from meditation to herbal remedies can also help with anxiety.
4. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or relaxing your muscles. Once you learn how to relax and deep breathe, you will feel more capable of handling the stress and anxiety around you. Deep breathing and relaxing your muscles calms the whole body down and when you’re calmer, you can think and see more clearly what is going on around you.
5. Keeping away from caffeine and alcohol. These stimulants heighten or in some cases, make situations much worse because they “hype” up the body and mind and give a false view of what is going on at the time.
6. Talking with someone you trust about how you’re feeling. Just sharing with someone who cares about you can do wonders in lessening the anxiety and fear you are experiencing.
7. Taking time to relax and take a walk. Walking not only calms the body down, it is free, also helps keep your heart healthy and keeps your weight at a good level.
8. But, if all else fails, seek help from a professional—either a psychiatrist or psychologist. He or she can give you good advice on how to change your behavior and by changing your behavior, feeling better and getting rid of anxiety.
