How to Get Rid of Cardboard
It’s easy enough to get snowed under with cardboard, from a new MP3 player to a washing machine, those boxes will more than likely be stored up in your attic for years. These will no doubt pile up and before you know it you can have rooms filled with the stuff. Don’t worry though, you are not the first, and certainly not the last person who will suffer from excess piles of cardboard. So let me tell you how to get rid of cardboard:
Recycling Cardboard
This is probably the easiest way to get rid of excess cardboard. Most towns and villages have a cardboard recycling drop off point, and if they don’t there are plenty of avid recyclers out there who may take it off your hands. If you have a friend who recycles they may take it to the local cardboard recycling point for you, saving you the hassle of doing it yourself!
Light a Fire
If you have BBQ’s regularly or often burn wood cardboard can be the perfect fire starter. For a Barbecue try putting a layer of cardboard on the bottom, top and if possible in the middle of the layers of coal. Light up the cardboard to have a perfect even burning barbecue with all the charcoal burning! If you are burning some wood, cut the cardboard in to strips and place it under the wood, also twist up a piece and thread it in to the middle of your wood stack to get your fire started in no time!
Move House or Store
If your cardboard is still in box it is perfect for storing rarely used things or moving house. If you are not moving to a new house or apartment then the chances are somebody else will be! If none of your friends are moving try Advertising your cardboard boxes on something like Craigslist or Free-cycle and someone may even offer you some cash for your unused cardboard boxes if they need them to move house!
All in all getting rid of your cardboard is pretty easy, it can be used for plenty of things, and if you don’t need it yourself someone else probably will! So however you decide to get rid of those towering piles of cardboard in the attic, whether you use it, burn it, or sell it, I hope you found these tips useful for clearing out those old stacks of cardboard!
