How to Get Rid of Eye Bags
Everyone has experienced dark, puffy bags under their eyes at some point in their life. Some people have them constantly, and no amount of make-up can hide them. Unfortunately, make-up can actually make the circles look worse. A person may get bags under their eyes for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they are temporary, and sometimes it is just genetics. Excessive crying, rubbing your eyes, allergies, or possibly a lack of sleep are just some of the reasons a person may develop under eye bags.
To try to get rid of under eye bags, there are a number of things you can try. There are the expensive creams and serums that may or may not work. You could also try some folk remedies, that are much cheaper.
Ice Compact
An ice compact is probably the easiest way to reduce swelling on any part of the body. It applies to under your eyes as well. Eye masks can be purchased that are stored in the freezer until you are ready to use them. Leave on for 5 to 15 minutes before applying make-up, or going out for the day. A fresh cool water splash throughout the day, can also help keep the swelling down.
Your Local Health Food Store
Visit your local health food store, and purchase a vial of witch hazel. Mix 5 drops of witch hazel in a small bowl of water. Chill the witch hazel mixture in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, soak cotton balls or a washcloth in the mixture. With eyes closed, apply to the eye area. Witch hazel should never be allowed to get in your eyes. Keep a wet cloth on hand to thoroughly wipe your eyes before opening them.
Lavender Treatment
A treatment with lavender is another option. Purchase a vial of essential lavender oil and mix one drop of oil with cool water. Soak cotton balls or a washcloth in the mixture, and apply to closed eyes. Lavender has natural soothing tendencies. Lavender can reduce under eye bags, an enhance your mood in one shot. Essential oils are very strong and can irritate the skin if applied directly, always mix with water or a carrier oil.
The tried and true cucumber slice remedy is always a good starting point. They do work, and can provide your skin with needed vitamins. A healthy diet and lifestyle are other ways to get rid of eye bags. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day will keep your body hydrated, and your skin looking great.
