How to Get Rid of Goosebumps

Goosebumps, also known as goose flesh and goose pimples, are those annoying and sometimes itchy little bumps on the backs of the upper arms. It’s called “goosebumps” because geese and chickens get the same thing under their wings. Well, the last time I checked, I wasn’t that fowl. Goosebumps occur when hair in the follicles lifts up, or feathers in the case of a goose or chicken. This happens as a result of cold, fear, or excitement. In humans, it is also a form of eczema called keratosis pilaris. There are many modern methods to cure goosebumps and also some natural alternatives. So get ready to open your pantry or take a trip to the grocery store or health food store for the ingredients!

Oatmeal Bath

Buy an oatmeal product especially formulated to use in warm water. Apply to the affected areas after mixing with warm water. An oatmeal bath is also relaxing enough to take a full bath in it. Oatmeal can also be placed in a sock, boiled in water, and then applied to the affected areas as well.

Natural Pastes

A paste of sandalwood powder and rose water or camphor oil can be applied to the affected area twice a day for one to two weeks. Make a paste using nutmeg and warm water. Apply this paste two to three times a day.

Honey and cinnamon powder mixed together in equal parts is also a great paste. Apply this paste two to three times a day. Honey is a natural antiseptic, promotes healing and attracts and retains moisture.

Mangoes

Peel off the skin of a mango, boil the pulp in water, and then let it cool. Apply it to the affected areas for two weeks.

Vegetables and Fruit – But Not to Be Eaten

Make vegetable juice from carrots, grapes, oranges, strawberries, or spinach. Apply the juice to the affected area three to four times a day for one to two weeks.

Those suffering from goosebumps can use one of the many varieties of methods available over the counter or through a doctor’s advice. If you want to remedy goosebumps the old fashioned way, use one of the homemade alternatives above. Homemade remedies often work better and last longer than modern methods. The ingredients for the above pastes and juices are everyday food items found in anyone’s home. Plus you can eat what’s leftover, and you’ll smell delicious!
