How to Get Rid of Hair Static
No one likes to walk around and face the world with hair that has a life of its own. If you have static in your hair you may feel like taking the scissors to your fly away mop. Have no fear! There are ways that you can get rid of hair static without chopping off your luscious locks.
Get To The Source
First you have to find the source of the static electricity that has found its way into your hair. The static may be coming from your clothes. Electric clothes dryers are very good about releasing static as they dry your clothes. There is couple of ways that you can change this. One, you can hang your clothes out on the line to dry, or two, you can just purchase some dryer sheets. Dryer sheets contain fabric softener and fabric softener will cut down on static electricity in your clothes by at least seventy five percent.
Check Out Your Feet
If you have fixed the dryer problem and it still doesn’t help, look down at your feet. (This is not a joke!) If you find that you are wearing cotton socks and your floors are carpeted, this could very well be the culprit. Your feet can create a static charge as you walk across carpeted floors with your socks on. This static will radiate through your body and all the way up to your hair. It is pretty much common sense as to how to solve this problem. You either need to wear your shoes or take off your socks. By doing so you should find that your hair will settle down, at least a bit.
Stick it To The Static
If you have tackled the sources and you are still trying to figure out how to get rid of static hair, you may have to resort to something else. There are a few things you can do to tame your hair quickly. Try investing in a strong hold hairspray. You may not like to have stiff hair, so you do not have to go overboard. Just simply spray your brush with it before you run it through your hair. This will not completely solve the problem but it will keep your hair down for most of the day. If you see that the effect is wearing off just repeat the process.
Put Some Weight On It
Another great thing that you can do to help hold your hair in place is use a conditioner that contains a heavy moisturizer. This can be just enough weight to keep your hair from having the ability to rise because of static.
Do not let your hair, and not you, rise to every occasion that the day brings. Follow these simple measures to keep the static out of your hair.
