How to Get Rid of High Interest Credit Cards

It’s easy – you take them out of your wallet, take some scissors, and cut them into little bitty pieces. Unfortunately, getting rid of the actual credit card is not the problem; the tough part is getting rid of the debt that can come along with a high interest credit card. So how do you get rid of those high interest cards and the debt that you may have accrued through them? Here are a few simple tips to help you to deal with high interest credit card debt.

One way to deal with the debt from high interest credit card is to do a balance transfer to a lower interest credit card. There are many credit card companies that allow you to transfer a balance from another card; the key is to find one that lets you transfer and lock in a low rate on the balance that you transfer. Sometimes it can be hard to find a deal like this, but occasionally you will come across one.

Another way to deal with high interest credit cards is to get a loan to consolidate your debt. If you are able to get a debt consolidation loan at a lower interest rate, you can pay down your credit card debt a lot quicker. You can sometimes get an interest rate considerably lower if you use you the equity in your home as collateral for a consolidation loan.

Yet another way to be rid of high interest credit cards is to use a debt management company. A debt management company negotiates with the credit card companies to come up with a re-payment schedule that you can live with. You then pay the debt management company and they distribute the payment to your creditors.

You may take these tips and use them to help you deal with you high interest credit cards, if you do, good for you. However, be careful to keep in mind what happens when you overuse high interest credit cards. I have to admit that it’s fun to take that little piece of plastic and live it up; the repayment of the credit card bill is not. If you happen to be one of those people that cannot use credit cards responsibly, than you should take my advice I gave at the start seriously. Cut them up.
