How to Get Rid of Ink Stains
Have you ever carried around that ink pen thinking that the lid was on, only to look down and see ink stains all over the front of your favorite shirt. You think to yourself, How do I get rid of this ink stain? Scissors come to mind. That’s ok if you’re needing some new dust rags. Next time, before tossing that shirt in the trash or shredding it for dust rags, try one of these easy ways to get rid of the ink stain.
Hair Spray
Place a clean cloth or paper towel under the ink stain. During the removal process, the ink will soak through to the cloth underneath. Spray the ink stain with an alcohol based hairspray until thoroughly saturated. Blot the ink stain with clean cloth and repeat until the stain is no longer visible. Use a clean cloth under the ink stain if necessary and launder as usual.

Toothpaste
Hey it cleans your teeth why not your clothes? Use a plain paste, no gels. Apply the paste to the ink stain and allow to sit for thirty minutes, then run under cold water while scrubbing the toothpaste into the ink stain. This process may need to be repeated several times. Continue to run under cold water until all the paste is gone. Launder your garment as usual.
Vinegar
You’ll first want to soak your garment in a bowl of vinegar for 10 to 15 minutes. Using a soft bristle brush or toothbrush, scrub the ink stain. Repeat until the ink stain is removed then rinse in cold water. Launder as usual.
Milk
Yes, Milk will get rid of an ink stain. Soak the garment in a milk bath. The milk will look inky. Rinse and repeat until the ink stain is gone. Rinse in cold water. Launder as usual.
Nail Polish Remover
You’ll want to use non-acetone nail polish remover. Place a clean cloth under the ink stain. Apply enough nail polish remover to saturate the ink stain and let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Blot the stain with a clean cloth. Repeat if necessary. Rinse in cold water. Launder as usual.
When dealing with ink stains remember to blot not rub and always use cold water. Hot water will set the stain and make it virtually impossible to remove. Many of these methods may take several tries before the ink stain is completely removed.
