How to Get Rid of Millipedes
I actually like millipedes. Am I crazy? I know, millipedes are slimy and incredibly ugly but they were cool to play with. I would have a millipede as a pet but my friends and family would disown me. Many people are not like me and they want to get rid of millipedes as soon as possible. Millipedes like to eat dead plant matter mostly and they have a life span of 5 to 7 years. Every time a millipede sheds their exoskeletons, they regenerate new legs. Millipedes can have more than 400 legs at any given time. How do you get rid of millipedes? Are they that bad? They are not like bugs but many people do not want to look at them like I do.
Get rid of millipedes yourself by hand
I know this is going to be a hard task but sometimes we do not have enough resources to get rid of millipedes in more conventional ways. This is not a rat, you do not have to grab a chair, stand on it and beat it to death. Millipedes are very gentle, and they should be treated that way. Millipedes are not Usain Bolt in speed, they move just as fast as snails. There is nothing to worry about when handling a millipede. This is as basic as you can get, grab a piece of paper, and have the millipede slowly walk towards it. Once the millipede is on the piece of paper, open your front door (whatever door you are comfortable with), go outside and set it free. That is it! Was that so hard? You thought you had to put on a radioactive suit and perform biochemical radiation to grab a millipede? Millipedes are pretty harmless.
How to get rid of millipedes source of food
Millipedes are detritivores, they like to eat dead and decaying plant matter. Get rid of all the dead plants you can find. If the millipedes have no food to eat, they will not come around your home.
Moisturize your home with dehumidifiers
Millipedes need high humidity to live, the drier your home, the better. Install a dehumidifier inside your home. Also, you need to purchase some fans and put them in rooms with little to no air flow. Inspect your home for any leakage. Millipedes love that!
