Erasers can be used for small scuff marks. An eraser on a pencil is sufficient or you can use special erasers that are made for this purpose. It is simple to do just rub the mark with the eraser until the mark disappears. Also be certain to clean up any eraser shavings because they will make their own scuff marks.
The rubber souls of a tennis shoe can be used to remove larger scuff marks by firmly rubbing the spot with the tennis shoe heel. If more pressure is needed you can wear the shoe and grind the heel of the tennis shoe into the scuff mark with a circular motion. Make certain to use white-soled tennis shoe so not to make the scuff marks worse.
A tennis ball can also be used to remove scuff marks from hardwood floors. The tennis ball should be clean. Carefully cut an inch wide “X” into the top of tennis ball. After this is done place a broom or mop handle into the “X” spot and then rub the tennis ball back and forth over the scuff marks.
If the above mentioned items do not work there are several other remedies that can be used to remove scuff marks such as:
Baking soda made into a paste is also very effective at removing scuff marks from hardwood floors. It is easy to make and simple to use. Mix just enough warm water with about 2 tablespoons of baking soda. The mixture should not be runny. Then all you have to do is rub the mark with a clean damp cloth and then wipe it dry.
Toothpaste can also be used. Do not use the gel kind. The white paste is the one to use. Just rub a small amount of toothpaste on the scuff mark and wipe it clean with a clean damp cloth.
Lighter fluid also works to remove scuff marks from floors. Dampen a clean white clothe with lighter fluid and rub the mark until it comes clean.
