How to Get Rid of Soy Sauce Stains
Your friends praise you for your cooking talent and you love serving Soy sauce based dipping sauces for all sorts of meals. BUT, the stains it creates on your dining table, carpets and clothes puts you on the pins and does not leave you any room to relax and enjoy the party as you would otherwise do.
It not only creates stains on the carpet or dining table but also on clothes during preparation. What do you do? Are you wondering how you can prepare and serve this delicious item and at the same time relax?
Prevention is better than cure! This famous saying can sure be applied here! You should in the first place try to prevent the stain getting formed because once the stain is formed it takes a long process to remove it. You can reduce the stains visibility by wearing a dark colored dress while preparing it and not the one which you had planned to wear while entertaining your guests or, if you don’t have time for a change, you should wear an apron while cooking.
On your carpets and dining table area, you can cover them with a plastic runner because it is easy to remove the Soy drippings from the plastic runner. On your couch, you can use decorative dark colored blankets so that even if the drippings fall, the stains are not seen. You can also give your guest a spoon and a plate so that they can use the plate while taking the sauce with the spoon for vegetable sticks or whatever you had prepared for appetizer. This will not only help you relax but also give you less work after your dinner.
In spite of all these precautions, if Soy stains occur on your blouse, remove them immediately with warm water. Using warm water helps in the removal of its odor as well. Nowadays, stain removal detergents are available in stores which can be used but while using those detergents one should be very careful regarding the fabric on which those detergents are used, because if it is used on the wrong fabric, the fabric gets discolored and the whole purpose of removing the stain goes down the drain!
The best way of removing the stains is to follow grandma’s method!
First, take one teaspoon of mild dish washing liquid soap; mix it with a cup of water which is of room temperature and pour a small amount on the Soy stain and blot until it becomes fairly dry.
Second, take a tablespoon of all purpose ammonia and mix it with one cup of room temperature water, pour and blot on the remaining stains of Soy and leave it to dry. Repeat the above mentioned process again.
Next, take a clean sponge and wipe that area with clean water. Blot and allow it to dry. Repeat these three steps till the stains are finally removed.
Quite a tedious job, but worth doing it because it is the most effective and successful formula without any nasty side effects! The most important point though, is that it is a proven formula. By using this method, you can remove the stains of Soy milk as well.
Remember! The longer the Soy stains remain in a fabric, the tougher it becomes to remove it. It has to be attended and blotted immediately for better results. The moment Soy stains occur, it is always better to rub the area with ice cubes and keep the fabric under a tap and let the water run on the fabric while you remove the stain by rubbing it with your finger.
