How to Get Rid of Spider Veins

Spider veins, medically referred to as varicose veins, are veins that are flawed by weak blood circulation and become swollen and twisted. Spider veins can happen anywhere on the body but are usually found on legs, upper thighs, and feet, due to the pressure of standing and sitting for long hours. Varicose veins are usually a reddish purplish hue and appear bulged, or raised, out of the skin. They also appear to web underneath the skin, hence the name ‘spider veins’. Although they usually don’t cause irritation to the body, severe cases of spider veins can cause a lot of pain. More commonly found in women, spider veins usually affect the elderly or those who spend a lot of time on their feet. Anyone can get spider veins but the condition and severity depends on the person. Luckily, these weak and swollen veins are curable, and there are many ways to get rid of spider veins and their abnormalities.

Healthy Circulation

Everyone knows that even a little exercise is better than none. Not only is exercising good for you mentally, physically, and emotionally, it’s good for blood circulation. Good blood circulation occurs generally from exercising, constantly changing your position, elevating your legs above your heart, and wearing loose-fitting clothing. By having healthy circulation, you’re preventing the existence of spider veins.

Laser Surgery

Another way to prevent or get rid of spider veins is through laser surgery. Although not an option for everyone, surgery is a very common treatment that uses bursts of light to fade the veins. Laser surgery can be used to remove any size vein on any part of the body. If you’re looking for something quick and effective, laser surgery is probably the best option. However, this is the most costly treatment as you may have to have multiple treatments of surgery to completely remove swollen veins.

Stay Healthy

Although it’s hard to balance a healthy lifestyle with everything else life throws at us, it’s important that you maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent spider veins, among other things. Being overweight means your legs have more pressure to hold up and circulation isn’t at its peak. By losing weight and being healthy, you reduce the pressure on your feet and legs and your body is able to pump blood through your veins without struggle.

If left untreated, spider veins can develop into serious circulation and swelling problems. Just by being healthy and exercising, your prevent your body from falling victim to spider veins.
